Andy Green replies

I reported last night that as of Monday afternoon, Andy Green  no longer manages the Redding Convention Center and Visitors Bureau. You first read about Green’s absence from his high-level city management position when I posted the news last month. Below are Green’s replies to my e-mailed questions.

- Doni

Q: I was told you retired. Is that accurate?

Yes, I retired from the city.

Q: How did you arrive at this decision?

Painfully.

Q: What will you do now?

Rest, heal, ride, fish and assist my mother in the sale of her home (of 40+ years) and her relocation.

Q: Do you have another job lined up?

I will be looking for something to do to keep me in the north state. In the meantime, I will be doing some work for the San Mateo County Event Center for the summer.

Q: Is there anything that would have convinced you to stay in your position?

I don’t know.

Q: When you look back at your time in this job, what are you most proud?

Tony Bennett signing “Fly me to the Moon” a cappella from the front edge of the stage. Also,  Conway and Korman, Seinfeld, Cats, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, and making budget for 5 years in a row.

  1. Andy…Good luck to you at whatever you pursue in the future. Show biz can get hectic at times. You gave it a good shot. You’ll go down in history with Moe Finn and Roy Montgomery and the good guys who ran the Civic.
